Many people currently learn how to speak French, but I wonder if many of them will succeed. The chances are that they will get bored and then ditch the book they bought. This is such a terrible shame after they started with so much enthusiasm for such an iconic and stunningly beautiful language. It is as elegant as the women that speak it and well worth a greater understanding. So why not learn how to speak French quickly and effectively while keeping your passion alive?

Learning French is a difficult task and it is estimated that it requires 220 hours of French study to gain a minimum proficiency level. This may seem like a lot and it certainly is, but if you are using these hours effectively then you will pick up more language and feel much more connected to the francophone world. So how can you learn how to speak French in less time and impress your friends as well as the opposite sex?

You can start by throwing away that silly cassette tape and free CDs you found in the Sunday papers. These are not going to help you learn anything. You may get the audio benefit, but these are just a boring repetition of phrases that pass too quickly for you to remember. These are just a waste of time and if you have to listen to something then make it your favorite song. If you want to learn how to speak French you need something a little more well-rounded.

Audio is all very necessary, but what you need is a more complete package which allows you to practice the relevant language that you are learning and thus take more of it in on a more long-term basis. By doing so you will not be wasting your time, but rather investing it wisely in something with which you are going to experience a lot of success.

An online or software approach is a much more well-rounded and complete way to learn how to speak French. It combines this audio with a more interactive approach in order to teach you how to produce the language. The way in which audio tapes fire the language at you are simply not a match for the immersion and involvement that the computer method can offer you, and so much less effective.

If you want to learn how to speak French then you can’t go wrong on the internet. There are so many great courses that teach you the relevant and interesting aspect of the language without lowering the mood with some pointless grammar for which you have little use, not to mention interest. The best way to learn how to speak French is to keep it relevant, interesting and interactive. If you manage this and keep coming back for a few minutes each day you will retain and increase your French connaissance. This has to be better than a silly give-away CD!

When we listen to the French language, it seems like a blur and a long line of syllables that don’t seem to mean anything. This may be true to an outsider, but if you can get your head around the French language pronunciation then you will certainly have a better chance of deciphering those baffling conversations.

The French do not pronounce their words in the same way as the English and there are many key differences. The alphabet has to be learned well and you must understand how each letter is pronounced. It is wise to learn how diphthongs are pronounced as well.

In English, we pronounce each word and stress the ante penultimate syllable. This means we place the greatest emphasis on this syllable compared to the others. In French, the only stressed syllables are those in which there is an accent; all others are pronounced with the same level of stress. This explains why French language pronunciation can sometimes sound as though they are speaking so fast and with no expression.

Another point is something that makes the French language so very elegant and easy to speak once fluent. Liaison is a phenomenon that occurs in the French language but not in the English. As you cannot make two consecutive vowel sounds easily (this is called ‘hiatus’) they can either pronounce the end of the last word in front of the next one or add letters to make it sound better. This sheds light on a -t-elle dit.

Here is a nice video introduction to French pronunciation:

French language pronunciation is not necessarily that difficult and you must choose a method of learning that allows you to master this. The best ones are the online courses as they contain audio files as part of their wealth of resources. This can help you to pronounce the words and you can compare yourself to the sound of a native speaker. This cannot be done with a textbook. The audio files are an important part, as you need to learn to pronounce the words before you can be understood in French.

Such courses can really help you with your pronunciation and this can make you feel and sound more natural and authentic when speaking French. It is an iconic language and you have to master the basics. Think of learning the alphabet and pronunciation as walking before you can run. You will only fall over if you fail to master the basics of walking and thus the same can be applied to learning to speak French.

I cannot sit here and tell you that French language pronunciation is an easy thing to master, but you will come to grips with it if you have a go and practice. Effective courses allow you to practice the language and thus you will experience a much more fun and enjoyable language learning process. It is best you invest your time wisely and I would urge you to consider how you want to learn French. It’s a fun thing to do, so make it fun to learn.

English is all very nice, but what if you’re the sort of person that likes to set yourself apart from the rest? It can make you look just that little more impressive on all fronts if you learn French words and just a few can give you that edge. I’m not talking about daft catch phrases, but a good understanding of the French language can go a long way.

It’s all very well saying that you would like to learn French words, but so many people try and fail just as quickly. It seems that for many people, the idea is twice as good as the reality and they do not see their dream to the end. I understand how they feel, however, when they sit with a great textbook in front of their noses and wonder why they aren’t getting any better at French.

If you really want to learn French words then I would suggest you make it fun and interesting as well as useful and practical. There are a number of ways in which you can do this and I would suggest you try these for yourself.

Firstly, you could try reading some interesting French articles or watching a few news articles. These can improve your pronunciation and also give you more of an insight into the French speaking world. This has the effect of making you more natural as well as authentic and fluent when in a French speaking situation. This is interesting and helps you build up some more vocabulary in certain areas.

You could also try some of the very good online programs in order to learn French words. These are generally very effective and are a welcome change from a textbook or audio CD. They can give you a fun and enjoyable time and really increase your French vocabulary.

You will also learn French words and remember them for longer if you choose to learn them in a more interactive way. These online programs have many good games and quizzes to help you retain the vocabulary that you are learning and using. This makes it fun and you will be more likely to return to the course for some further lessons. This means you will learn the language in short, frequent lessons which will improve your language more efficiently than any other method.

There are many reasons why you may wish to learn French words. You may wish to sound more employable or go on vacation in a francophone country. You need to arm yourself with the best and most effective French learning course and one that will keep your learning fun and engaging. If it fails to be fun then you will give up and never learn much French at all. There is no point in boring yourself and you can really do without losing your concentration after some rough bedtime reading. So drop the book, not your motivation, and pick up some great online French courses.
